Loss of Liberty. Mass Suffering. Growing Government Power. Morgan Griffith JustDescribed the Trump Administration he supports

On September 2nd, the same day a federal judge blocked Donald Trump’s latest unconstitutional attempt to strip citizenship from some children born in the United States, Morgan Griffith took to Facebook to warn voters that socialism could lead to a loss of liberty.

By Griffith’s convoluted logic, voting for Democrats means inviting Fascism and a future marked by a loss of liberties, totalitarian rule, and growing government power. Griffith, meanwhile, vociferously supports the SAVE America Act, which surreptitiously targets Democratic voters by making it far more difficult to vote by mail, a method which is used by a much higher percentage of Democratic voters than Republican ones. 

Griffith also continues to defend his support of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA), most recently in his letter refusing to debate his Democratic challenger, Joy Powers. The act dramatically reduced Congress’s power of the purse by effectively removing ICE from the regular budget process and allowing it to avoid accountability as its officers gun down American citizens in the streets and receive blanket support from the administration to lie about and cover up their crimes.

In another sign of growing abuse of power and Donald Trump’s ongoing efforts to achieve totalitarian rule, thousands of armed, uniformed National Guard troops continue to patrol the streets of the nation’s capital and are scheduled to continue to do so for the remainder of his presidency.

Meanwhile, the “mass suffering” that Griffith claims is an inevitable result of voting for Democrats is already the daily reality for his constituents because of the administration he full-throatily supports. Due to cuts to SNAP funding in the OBBBA, the President and CEO of Feeding Southwest Virginia said her organization will struggle to feed needy families as those measures come online at the same time that the USDA has reduced the amount of food it provides to the organization. Morgan Griffith failed to mention this during his recent photo op bagging potatoes there.In short, Morgan Griffith is right about one thing: Americans should be worried about losing their liberties, suffering under totalitarian rule, and growing government power. The part he doesn’t understand is those things are already happening and he’s contributing to the problem.

Morgan Griffith’s desperate attempt to scare his supporters into voting for him only works if his Southwest Virginia constituents fail to realize that he’s already helped create the failing, totalitarian state he claims to be trying to stop. We can’t fall for it.
